NEWPORT BEACH, CA (March 2004) -- The World Shoe Association has been serving its members since 1947. In that time the association has undergone many changes driven by the needs of our members and the industry we serve. Consolidation in both the manufacturer and retailer sector have required all of us to adapt to new ways of doing business. The WSA Show exists to help our members maneuver through these changes and thrive while doing so.
The changes at the February show were both highly visible and subtle. We were pleased to have 150 new companies for retailers to view products from as well as 30 more suites in Collections. Additionally, there were international pavilions from six countries, with more international groups planning to exhibit in August. The eBay seminars were undeniably successful as they guided retailers through programs that help them move unsold stock. Who would have imagined this ten years ago? We will continue seeking out new trends and business practices in the footwear industry and provide forums for them.
WSA is now working to establish cooperative relationships with the other major footwear trade shows around the world. We will be attending the GDS Show in Dusseldorf and meeting with the fair organizers there.
Finally, as we look to our upcoming show in August, excitement and expectation are our key words. Rod Stewart will surely rock the house for an exciting opening night event, the WSA Show floor will be alive with excitement and new products and, of course, we will continue to be the pre-eminent venue of the footwear industry in the Western Hemisphere!
Expect bigger.
Expect better.
expect more.
